Summary
ParquetPeek does not collect, store, transmit, sell, or share any personal data. All file processing happens entirely on your Mac. No network requests, no telemetry, no analytics, no third-party tracking.
What Data ParquetPeek Processes
When you open a Parquet file in ParquetPeek, the file is read locally on your device for display. The file and its contents never leave your Mac. ParquetPeek has no network access whatsoever — the app is sandboxed without any network entitlement, so the operating system blocks network activity at the kernel level.
What Data ParquetPeek Stores
ParquetPeek uses macOS UserDefaults to store two small pieces of data, both local to your Mac and never transmitted:
- Security-scoped bookmarks for the Open Recent menu, so you can reopen files without granting access again.
- Saved SQL queries you explicitly add to the query library.
You can clear this data at any time by selecting Clear Recent in the Open Recent menu or by deleting saved queries from the SQL library.
Third-Party Components
ParquetPeek embeds the DuckDB SQL engine (MIT license) as a statically linked library. DuckDB runs entirely in-process on your Mac and makes no network connections. No data is sent to DuckDB Labs, MotherDuck, or any external service.
Operating System Diagnostics
If you have enabled Share Mac Analytics in macOS System Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements, macOS itself may send anonymous crash reports and usage metrics to Apple. This is an operating system feature controlled entirely by you, not by ParquetPeek. ParquetPeek does not receive, request, or have any way to access these diagnostics. You can disable it at any time in System Settings.
Children’s Privacy
ParquetPeek does not collect data from anyone, including children under 13.
